Slow Loris shirts began in 1997 in Oakland, California. I was still currently attending the California College of Arts and Crafts and in efforts to make some extra cash, I thought up the idea to screen print my drawings onto t-shirts. The first shirts I ever made were printed in the basement storage room of the old Cannery building within which i was living at the time. As time went on, my quickly thought up idea turned into a real opportunity to make shirts for a living. The shirts were selling quite well, so when i moved up to Washington State in 1999 to the small island of Guemes, I bought my own screen printing press and continued on with the business.

Shirts are sold in editions of 100 or less through here, slowshirts.com, as well as in a handful of small boutique stores around the world. You’ll never find a Slow Loris shirt in a chain store. Think of Slow Shirts as a limited edition art print; when you buy one, only 99 other people in the world could be walking around with the same shirt on their back. When shirts sell out, a new design will follow, but sometimes this process takes longer then it should. For this, i apologize. I’ve thrown myself into a continuous cycle that i am constantly trying to keep up with, and now and again, i’m a little bit slow…

This web-site would not be alive if it were not for my wonderful friend Stephen the Brit. I met him here on the world wide web a couple years ago at threadless.com, where we both had won a t shirt design contest. Mine was a yellow microscope, Stephen’s was a red rooster.

A BIG thank you to all past and present customers for supporting Slow Loris Shirts.

And don’t forget to send in your photo of yourself wearing a Slow Loris shirt!
